Dalian Petrochemical Company's technological transformation cures the two major "catalytic diseases"

The Dalian Petrochemical Corporation's 900,000-ton/year heavy oil catalytic cracking unit (second-catalyst) has high temperature and high oil slurry solids content after slumping the oil slurry. It has been restricting the stability, longevity, and full production of the equipment. It was stopped during the maintenance work on August 6 this year. Through technological transformation, the two major “unresolved diseases” have been completely resolved. By October 9, the plant has been operating for one month and production has achieved satisfactory results.
Before the device shuts down, when the oil spill rejection exceeds 6 tons, the external expulsion temperature exceeds the requirement that the process index is not more than 100 degrees, which seriously affects the increase in the processing volume of the device. After accounting studies, the current set of 80 cm diameter cooling coils was replaced with two 50 cm diameter cooling coils in series to increase the media flow rate. After the completion of the transformation, the start-up oil slurry up to 9 tons, the cold temperature can be controlled at 80-100 degrees, and no over-temperature problem has occurred.
In the past, the solids content of oil slurry has remained high, exceeding the technological indicators. A series of reactor cyclone separator gas cylinders were found to have 3 loopholes in the shutdown inspection, which was analyzed as a long-term purge of the coke-proof steam nozzle. The presence of leaks reduces the flow of catalyst from the cyclone inlet so that some of the catalyst goes directly to the fractionator without cyclones. The loopholes were repaired during shut-down inspection. The plugging was facing the scorch-proof steam nozzles of the gas lifter. The solids content in the slurry after the start of the operation was 2 g/l, which was much lower than (less than 6 g/l) the process index.
