At present, ultrasonic thickness measurement system has become the mainstream of gas thickness measurement technology on the market. Other detection technologies, such as X-ray thickness measurement systems, have only been used in certain special cases due to the insufficiency of high radiation, high energy consumption, and high price. Ultrasonic thickness measurement systems are widely accepted by gas pipe manufacturers for their safety, simplicity and accuracy. In Europe and the Middle East, ultrasonic thickness measurement system has become the best choice for gas pipeline online thickness measurement equipment.

In view of this, the German iNOEX company has developed the AUREX ultrasonic on-line inspection system based on its own 20 years of technological innovation in the extrusion industry. The system uses a unique "imis" intelligent measurement integration technology, through its new measurement and function modules, can achieve a full three-dimensional pipe testing. High-frequency probes with frequencies up to 10 to 20 MHz allow the AUREX system to perform continuous detection without any loss. Temperature and medium are the main factors affecting the ultrasonic transmission rate. Therefore, how to eliminate the influence of temperature and medium in the measurement environment has always been a problem that plagues experts from various countries. For example, in the measurement of large-caliber thick-walled gas pipes, the temperature at different wall thicknesses of the pipes cannot be determined, thus restricting the application of the ultrasonic thickness measurement system in the production of large-diameter gas pipes. However, with the introduction of the Aurex system with iNOEX's Atuomatic calibration function, this industry problem has been perfectly solved. First, the AUREX system will accurately measure the amount of extrusion through its gravimetric metering device. At the same time, the system will calculate the average wall thickness of the pipe at the time. Then, the average wall thickness value is divided by the average value of the ultrasonic return interval between the inner and outer walls of the pipe obtained at each probe location, and the reference rate of the ultrasonic wave in the pipe wall is obtained. Finally, by multiplying this rate by the time interval at each probe, the actual wall thickness of the pipe can be determined in real time.
