Large-scale websites usually have their own "data centers", dozens or even hundreds of thousands of servers, and all passing data needs to be processed. In decentralized networks, data centers are prone to congestion. MIT researchers will present a new network management system. In the experiment, the average queue length of 99.6% of Facebook data center routers was reduced, and almost zero wait. The average delay is reduced almost as much, from 3.56 microseconds to 0.23 microseconds.
Most data centers use decentralized communication protocols. That is, each node in the network decides based on its own limited observations, which neighboring node is sent to make the fastest. Dealing with large-scale networks with decentralized agreements has no advantage in managing communications. The MIT system, called Rapid Pass, no longer uses the arbiter to determine when a node in the network passes through which adjacent node. Pass through quickly, namely the node that wants to send data sends out a request first, after arbitrating, receive and distribute the route. The key to rapid pass-through efficiency is to decentralize the task so that it can perform transmission-time task assignments in parallel separation. But the problem is that there can only be one source server and one target server that match each time slot. Instead, fast allocating allows each core to set a time slot, by scrolling through the entire list of pending send requests.
Today, most data center operators simply invest money to avoid network delays. Rapid adoption will reduce administrative costs and equipment costs and provide users with good services. We once only pondered about throughput, but delays will become new areas.
