Shunde paint industry research and development of energy-saving products to a new level

At the end of 2006, China's first government procurement "green list" was announced. The list lists a total of 15 building sanitary ceramics companies, and Foshan has 12 seats. However, in the list of water-based paint companies, none of the companies in Shunde District of Foshan City, which has been awarded the “Hometown of Chinese Coatings,” were short-listed.

The relevant officials of the State Environmental Protection Administration stated that the green standards of government procurement should be based on the product life cycle standards, so that the entire process of product design, development, production, packaging, transportation, use, recycling, and recycling to waste is in line with environmental protection requirements. Whether it can be selected as a “green list” is a contest of the overall strength of the company—product quality, environmental protection requirements, and public reputation are all important factors. Why does the industry with two very good foundations in the same city have different situations in a “list”?

Coating industry:

Speed up the development of energy-saving products

In 1985, Shunde Jinlong Ink Co., Ltd. was established and began to develop polyurethane furniture paint. It has grown to be Shunde's first company to sell more than 100 million yuan.

20 years later, Shunde has now become a well-known paint production base in the country, with nearly 300 paint companies, annual production accounts for 10% of the country, of which wood furniture paint accounts for 50% of the country, also has four countries product quality inspection-free products , two Chinese brand-name products and three state-level high-tech enterprises.

In June 2006, Shunde was named "Home of Coatings." At the “Painting Township” award ceremony, Zhou Zhuye, secretary-general of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, proposed that Shunde should accelerate the paint industry’s work in terms of resource conservation and environmental protection while accelerating the creation of a competitive coating industry base.

Shunde really encountered a powerful contest opponent. Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, located in the Yangtze River Delta, has also gathered more than 250 paint companies, and its annual production also accounts for nearly 10% of the country. The difference is that the output of Changzhou's new type of paint has reached more than 120,000 tons, accounting for 20% of the country's total. New-type automotive coatings have occupied half of the domestic market in one fell swoop. In 2003, Changzhou established the first national industrial base named after the paint industry in China, and formed a new material industry including high-solid powder coatings, water-based coatings and other new types of special coatings. In fact, waterborne coatings are becoming the mainstream of the coatings industry due to the extremely low VOC content and resource saving.

Wang Ganlin, deputy head of the district of Shunde District, told the reporter that the “Hometown of Chinese Coatings” has been affirmed and encouraged by Shunde. According to him, Shunde has supported the paint industry as one of the three pillar industries, and has further promoted industrial upgrading and development by assisting enterprises to participate in government procurement and supporting the application of the “Shunde Coatings” collective trademark series of measures.

However, the publication of the "green list" shows that the space for Shunde paint companies to participate in government procurement needs further development. In an interview with the reporter, Yu Chaoyu, deputy director of the Coatings Professional Committee of the Guangdong Coatings Industry Association, said that the fact that the coating company did not receive relevant information was the reason why Shunde enterprises failed to enter the group. Hongchang Chemical, Hualong Coatings, and Shenzhou Coatings, etc. Shunde paint companies also expressed that they did not know much about this list before, and they will actively and timely grasp and adapt to the adjustment direction of the country’s industrial policy, and vigorously research and develop environment-friendly and energy-saving models. product.

Ceramic Industry:

Environmental production brings rewards

The ceramic industry is a traditional industry in Foshan. On the banks of the Dongping River in Chancheng District, Foshan, stretched ceramic companies can barely see their heads. From Shiwan and Zhangye to Nanzhuang across the river, more than 300 ceramic manufacturers are concentrated. In recent years, China has rapidly emerged a number of ceramic production bases and gradually formed the industrial layout of “Three Mountains, One Sea and Two Rivers (Foshan, Tangshan, Shandong, Shanghai, Jinjiang, Jiajiang)”.

After many years of accumulation, the development of industrial clusters and industrial chains in Foshan ceramics has gradually improved. The logistics, trading, technology, and information platforms of the ceramic industry have gradually taken shape. Even most of the well-known ceramic machinery and color glaze brands at home and abroad have established factories in Foshan. Or set up sales centers and service agencies. In 2006, Foshan also saw the emergence of eight "China Famous Brands" and two new "China Famous Brands" including Eagle Brand, Dongpeng, Xinzhongyuan, New Pearl, Mona Lisa, Diamond, Golden Helm, Wrigley.
