Sales of Japanese cars in China have narrowed

According to relevant data, in November 2012, the year-on-year decline in Japanese car sales in the Chinese market narrowed compared with the previous months, but the outlook is still not optimistic.

In November 2012, the sales volume of new cars in Japan was 394,000, a year-on-year decrease of 0.4%, and it fell for three consecutive months.

Honda Motor Co. said on the 4th that in November, the sales volume of cars in China was 41,200 units, down 29.2% year-on-year. Compared with the 54% drop in sales in October, the situation has improved. Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. said on the same day that its sales volume in the Chinese market was 79,500 units in November, a year-on-year decrease of 29.8%, and the decline was also narrower than the 40.7% recorded in October. According to data released by Toyota Motor Corporation on the previous day, sales of new vehicles in China in November were approximately 63,800 vehicles, a decrease of 22.1% from the same period last year. Toyota's sales in China have thus continued to decline year-on-year for the fifth consecutive month, but they have improved compared with the 40% decline in September and October. In addition, Mazda announced on the 3rd that sales in China in November fell by 29.7% from the same period last year to 12,200 units, a decrease from 44.9% in October.

Analysts pointed out that from the data released by the four car companies mentioned above, despite the narrowing sales decline in China, they are far below their sales volume and the original sales target for the same period last year. The outlook is still not optimistic.
