At the Moscow Auto Show opened at the end of August, Laurens van den Acker, Renault's design director, revealed to the media that the company will open a new concept car at the Paris Motor Show in October. "We will bring a very interesting concept model." The fuel economy of this car can reach 141 miles per gallon, about 2.0 liters of fuel consumption for a hundred kilometers.

The French government has recently set a goal for car companies to allow manufacturers to launch a two-liter model with 100 km of fuel consumption by 2020. Renault's new concept car will be a response to the request of the French government.

Laurens van den Acker said that this car will not be a modified version of Renault's existing vehicle, but a new design: "It will not use the existing platform, because the current Renault platform chassis too heavy. It did not disclose which form the new car will adopt, but pointed out that it will be a collection of traditional hatchbacks, sports cars and crossover designs.

In French car companies, PSA Peugeot Citroën is also building an ultra-fuel-saving car, introducing the Peugeot 2008 Hybrid Air concept car. This car is equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine and a power of 81 horsepower. The total power is 112 horsepower. The vehicle's fuel economy is 106 miles per gallon, about 2.7 liters per 100 kilometers.
