Anshan-type iron ore is the most important iron deposit in China. It not only accounts for about 50% of the total reserves , but also the scale of deposits is generally large. In metal ore mineral magnetite, hematite followed, siderite, martite; gangue minerals are quartz, chlorite, hornblende, mica, feldspar, dolomite and calcite. The Anshan-type iron ore mine has many lean ore and fine grain size. It is difficult to obtain higher ore dressing indicators.

Jing Tieshan type iron ore is mainly distributed in Gansu Province in the northwest of China. It belongs to the iron jasper type iron ore deposit. The main metal minerals in the ore are specular iron ore, siderite, etc., and the symbiotic minerals are barite . The gangue minerals are mainly jasper and iron dolomite.

Panzhihua iron ore is a kind of magnetite with various elements such as vanadium , titanium and cobalt . Its ore reserves rank second in China's total iron ore reserves, accounting for about 15% . It is located in Panzhihua area of ​​Sichuan Province. The main metal minerals in the ore are vanadium-titanium magnetite and ilmenite. The sulfides are mainly pyrrhotite, and the gangue minerals are mainly titanium ordinary pyroxene and plagioclase.

Daye-type iron ore is the most distributed and widely distributed deposit in various types of iron deposits. The scale is mainly small and medium-sized, accounting for about 10% of China's total iron ore reserves . The ore composition of this type of deposit is relatively complex, often accompanied by elements such as Cu , Sn , Co , Mo , S , Zn , Au . The ore is mainly composed of magnetite and is easy to sort. Metallic minerals mainly magnetite, hematite followed, siderite, a small amount of copper ore yellow, red and yellow iron pyrite. In addition to iron ore, it is generally used to recover minerals such as Cu and Co.

The Baiyun Obo type iron ore is a unique type of iron deposit in China, and it is a large iron and polymetallic composite deposit. The mining area consists of east and west ore bodies. 71 elements have been discovered and 129 minerals have been formed . Occurrence status of main elements in the east ore body: the average iron content is 36.48% , and more than 90% of the iron element is mainly present in iron-bearing minerals such as magnetite, primary hematite, and pseudo-hematite; rare earth oxides are mainly It is a fluorocarbon antimony ore and a monazite with a grade of 5.18% ; the fluorine element is mainly present in fluorite and fluorocarbonate, with a grade of 5.95% ; the strontium element is mainly present in ilmenite rutile, coltan, pyrite and pyrochlore. The niobium oxide grade is 0.129% .

According to the different iron-bearing minerals, iron ore with industrial value mainly includes: magnetite ore, hematite ore, limonite ore, siderite or mixed iron ore (hematite-magnetic ore mixed ore) , titanium-containing magnetite ore, copper-containing magnetite ore, etc.
