Imports and exports of mechanical products are expected to increase 15% year-on-year in production and sales

"Last year, China's machinery industry achieved a steady and rapid development. From the current situation, the development of the machinery industry is still facing greater pressure this year. The export situation of mechanical products is not optimistic. It is expected that the annual production and sales of the whole industry will increase by about 15% from last year. Recently, Wang Ruixiang, member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the China Machinery Industry Federation, explained to the reporter his analysis and judgment of the development of the machinery industry this year.
Wang Ruixiang pointed out that the machinery industry is a basic and strategic industry, and its development should be faster than other industries. He hoped that the machinery industry will overcome many difficulties this year, continue to play its role and contribute to protecting the overall situation and the industry, and seize the important historic opportunity for China to change its economic development mode, speed up structural adjustment, and realize the healthy and sustainable development of the entire industry.
This year’s import and export situation is still grim
"Last year, the machinery industry accumulatively earned foreign exchange through exports of 19.58 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 19.25% over the previous year. Imports of foreign exchanges reached 180.9 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 7.14% over the previous year. Imports fell significantly less than during the same period. Imports and exports accounted for a substantial increase from the previous year to 47.69 billion U.S. dollars. It dropped to 14.9 billion U.S. dollars,” Wang Ruixiang pointed out. “At present, the impact of the global economic crisis, especially the impact on the real economy in China, continues to show itself. Under such circumstances, although there will be some growth in the import and export of machinery products this year, The increase will not be much."
Wang Ruixiang believes that the recovery of the world economy will go through a process. At present, although major foreign economies have started to bottom out and the foreign trade market is expected to stop its downward trend, the economic growth rate has not yet returned to the best level in history. At the same time, due to the financial crisis, the world economy is undergoing a new round of structural adjustments, and the international division of labor has also undergone certain changes. Many economically developed countries have in the past transferred manufacturing to developing countries, or are third world countries with relatively abundant resources and comparatively low labor prices. Now, these developed countries are gradually restoring the development of manufacturing. Therefore, from a variety of situation analysis, "As in previous years, we will buy as much as we can. It is estimated that this will not be too much."
He pointed out that there is also a certain expectation in the current market for the appreciation of the renminbi, and changes in the exchange rate will also have a great impact on imports and exports. “This will affect the development of companies overseas. It will affect those companies that hold foreign exchange and affect the profits of foreign-currency settlement companies. Companies will encounter a lot of difficulties that are hard to imagine.”
"This year, the China Aircraft Association will strengthen investigations and research, fully understand the operational status of the entire machinery industry, and understand the outstanding problems faced by the industry and enterprises," said Wang Ruixiang. "We need to reflect these issues to relevant government departments and put us forward. We will strive to get these issues to receive the attention of the relevant departments, and we hope that the country will introduce policies and measures to solve these problems.”
Beware of new energy vehicle projects
“The automobile industry achieved rapid growth in production and sales in 2009. The annual output reached 13.79 million units and the sales volume reached 13.64 million vehicles. China has become the world’s largest automobile production and sales country.” Wang Ruixiang pointed out: “The achievement of the automotive industry has been achieved for many years. The continuous improvement of infrastructure construction in the auto industry and the continual strengthening of industrial capabilities are also a manifestation of China’s economic and social development, improvement of living standards, and continued strong domestic demand. Although some people are currently not optimistic about the development of the auto industry this year, I think that The auto industry will not experience any ups and downs and will continue to maintain steady growth."
For the development of the automotive industry, he believes that new energy vehicles will be an important direction for the future development of the industry, and is an emerging strategic industry. Regardless of whether it is from the perspective of scientific and technological progress or from the perspective of energy conservation and environmental protection, new energy vehicles should intensify their efforts in development, continuously expand the scale and improve quality.
Wang Ruixiang reminded that the key to the development of new energy vehicles is to do a good job of basic R&D and master high-end core technologies. At the same time, in terms of overall layout, reasonable layout should also be considered to prevent low-level duplicate construction and prevent the occurrence of an overbearing situation. Relevant departments should do a good job in the basic construction of new energy vehicles, industrial layout, and increase investment from the national level and from the industrial level to guide the healthy development of the industry.
“The development of new energy vehicles and the development of traditional energy vehicles should not be contradictory,” said Wang Ruixiang. “The most important thing for traditional cars is to improve the level of technological innovation, enhance independent intellectual property rights, create independent brands, and make brands bigger and stronger. Catch up with the advanced level of developed countries in the world, and at the same time, strengthen the research and development of new energy vehicles in accordance with the guiding ideology of not only paying attention to traditional energy vehicles but also paying attention to electric vehicles, and strive to seize the commanding heights in this area and take the initiative. It is the developed countries that have opened up the distance. We must seize the opportunity to change the mode of development to catch up.”
Clearly "going out" strategic objectives
According to reports, the current core technological capabilities of the machinery industry are constantly being strengthened. A large number of high-end equipment have achieved independent innovation, such as the UHV AC complete sets of equipments that occupy the world's leading level, 220 tons of electric wheel dump trucks for self-developed large-scale open-pit mines, compressors and valves for domestic gas pipelines, and large-scale Three Gorges power stations. Hydroelectric power generation equipment, high-end CNC machine tools, agricultural large tractors and so on.
“Companies must have their own brands and have their own core technologies. This has important strategic significance for the country and the industry.” Wang Ruixiang said, “But when we see results, we must also see that In general, the machinery industry, especially some sub-sectors, still need to improve their independent innovation capabilities."
He pointed out that if we compare with our peers in the world and put ourselves into the world industrial chain for analysis and comparison, we still have a very clear gap. We are at the middle and low end of the industrial chain. Many key components and parts of our company's products still need to be imported. This requires the machinery industry to recognize the situation and challenges. "Only by continuing to carry out scientific and technological innovation, increase R&D investment, and increase the intensity of technological transformation, can Chinese companies form their own core competencies and create their own independent brands. Of course, this also requires a long way to go. ."
He believes that at present, some companies are constantly calculating. Is it now the best time to “go global”? Is the technology purchased advanced and is it risky to open up overseas markets? “Risks will exist at any time, but we must not give up our determination to “go global”.” Wang Ruixiang said, “The strategy of “going out” includes us to go abroad for cooperation, joint development and manufacturing, and also include the introduction of foreign companies. Strategic investors, introducing the most advanced core technologies, etc."
He pointed out that the most advanced foreign technology will not be transferred to us easily. Therefore, before going abroad to introduce technology or purchase technology, it is necessary to conduct sufficient investigation and research. If there is no definite prospect of cooperation and access to the most advanced technologies, then our "going out" strategy should be cautious.
Finally, Wang Ruixiang concluded that both domestic and foreign markets are big markets. The results of China’s reform and opening up have fully proved that the potential for the development of the Chinese market is very large. Therefore, Chinese enterprises must keep their eyes on domestic development while “going out”. With dynamics, we must not lose sight of this and lose the soil on which we depend for survival and development.
