G73 is used for deep hole drilling. It adopts interrupted feed during drilling, which is good for chip breaking and chip removal and is suitable for deep hole machining. Figure 1 shows the working process of high-speed deep hole drilling. Where Q is the incremental value, specify the depth of each cut. d is the amount of chip removal, set by system parameters.

For example, the 5-mm-8 mm deep 50 mm hole shown in Fig. 2 is machined. Obviously, this is deep hole machining. The procedure for deep hole drilling with G73 is:

The machining coordinate system settings: G56 X=-400, Y=-150, Z=-50.
In the above procedure, high-speed deep hole drilling was selected to perform hole machining, and after G98 was determined for each hole, it was returned to the R plane. Set the Z coordinate of the surface of the orifice to be 0, the coordinate of the R plane to 30, and the Q of each cutting depth to be 5. The system sets the removal amount d of the cuttings to 2 places.
