1. Can adapt to changing temperature
Because it is used outdoors, and the outdoor environment is changeable, the temperature difference between our south and north is also very large. The temperature in the south can reach above 50 ℃ in summer, and the temperature in the north can reach below minus 30 ℃. In addition, the temperature in the same place in summer and winter is also very different, so the outdoor AP's ability to adapt to temperature is critical. You can't buy it back and use it for a few days.
In order to adapt to the environment, the components of the outdoor AP have higher quality, and the shape and structure must be excellent. Generally, lightning protection design will be done internally, with lightning protection index above 4kv. The exterior is to be fully sealed, and the quality of the outer shell used is very high.
2. Waterproof and dustproof
In addition to the variable temperature outside, and the possibility of rain at any time, waterproof ability is very important. The waterproof ability is related to the design of the shell, and it must be fully sealed. The design of each screw and each groove must be very careful, because the screw design is not good, it may leak, and the groove design is not good, which may cause Water accumulation may cause water seepage over time.
In addition to this, it must also be dustproof. Year after year and four seasons alternate, the AP can not avoid the invasion of dust for a long time. This depends on the material of the housing. The general waterproof and dustproof requirements are around IP66. When evaluating outdoor APs on site, you only need to soak the AP to be purchased for 10 minutes in water, and then use it after power-on to know how the AP is waterproof and dustproof.
If the appearance is made of metal, it also depends on its anti-rust. Generally, the AP is coated with a layer of corrosion and anti-rust film, so as to ensure that the outdoor AP can work stably in the humid environment such as the seaside for a long time. That is to say, ordinary bare, or unprotected aluminum alloy and other metal shells are not capable of such a long-term environment.
3. Port lightning protection
To be precise, it should be port protection capability. Outdoor AP is exposed to wind and rain for a long time, its port protection ability is very important. For example, when using the electrical port, the unused optical port needs to be sealed with a plug.
In addition, the biggest risk faced by a port is voltage surges, which we usually call port lightning protection. For port lightning protection, many people mistakenly believe that it is to prevent lightning strikes. In fact, the prevention of "direct lightning strike" generally depends on the lightning rod. If the AP is really struck by lightning, it is useless to protect it. The port protection is against "induction lightning". Under lightning weather, the voltage surge will be relatively large. Inside the various ports of the AP, the chip is relatively fragile. If not protected, the chip may be burned.
4. Power index
The power of outdoor APs is generally higher than that of indoors, basically above 500mw, and some even reach 1W. The greater the power, the farther the signal is transmitted and the stronger the signal.
