Europe's greenest car prices, brands and models in the first half of 2010

According to JATO Dynamics' recent release of European passenger car CO2 emissions data for the first half of 2010, nearly 60% of new cars in Europe have CO2 emissions at or below the level of 140 g/km (the 2008 standard). The market share of low CO2 emission models has increased significantly. The agency also released countries, car companies, car brands and models with the lowest CO2 emissions in Europe in the first half of 2010. The following is the detailed content.

Passenger cars with the lowest CO2 emissions

Among the European countries, the lowest CO2 displacement of passenger cars is in Portugal - the average CO2 emission of new cars in the country has reached 129.3 g/km, which exceeds that of France and Italy, which prefer small diesel vehicles. In the first half of the year, the biggest improvement in the reduction of automobile CO2 emissions was in Greece and Ireland. The average CO2 emissions of passenger cars in the two countries have been reduced by 12.5 g/km and 10.2 g/km, respectively.

The major reason that led to a significant reduction in the CO2 emissions of Irish cars was that the country implemented a taxation policy based on CO2 emissions, which promoted the consumption of smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. Greece, on the other hand, is because the economic recession has led to a reduction in demand for larger vehicles, especially SUVs.

In the first half of the year, the top five passenger car companies with the lowest CO2 emissions were Fiat, Toyota, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Renault and Hyundai. Among them, the average CO2 emissions of Fiat and Toyota in Europe has already reached the 2015 CO2 emission standard set by the EU - 130 g/km. Other companies will also further converge and exceed this standard.

In the first half of the year, most of the passenger car brands in Europe had reduced CO2 emissions. Among them, the top 10 passenger car brands with the lowest CO2 emissions were Fiat, Toyota, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Ford, Opel/Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Audi, and BMW. Fiat is still the European brand with the least CO2 emissions. Toyota is ranked second because of low-emission models such as the Prius, Yaris and Aygo.

The CO2 emissions of these 10 brands have been reduced to varying degrees. Among them, the biggest reduction is in the Volkswagen brand. In the first half of this year, the average CO2 emission of the model has been reduced by 8.2 g/km compared to the 2009 fiscal year. The second and third largest reductions in emissions reductions were Opel/Vauxhall and Audi, which reduced 7.5 g/km and 6.8 g/km, respectively. The emission reductions of Volkswagen and Audi brand cars benefit from the adoption of 1.2 TDi, 1.6TDi, or 1.2 TSI engines in new vehicles.

Last year, the passenger car with the lowest CO2 emissions in Europe was Toyota's Yaris. In the first half of this year, its sales in Europe did not meet the agency's statistical standards, so it was not listed in the 20 models with the lowest CO2 emissions. However, the agency believes that if its sales volume reaches its statistical standards, its position in this low-carbon model list will also slip to second place.

In the first half of this year, the European model with the lowest CO2 emission was the Fiat 500, which had an average CO2 displacement of only 116.0 g/km; the CODs with the lowest 2-10 emissions were followed by the Panda and the Fiesta. , Fiat Punto, Citroen C3, Volkswagen Polo, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, Peugeot 207, Renault Clio and Audi A3/S3. The average CO2 emissions of these 10 models have all dropped below 130 g/km.

Of the 20 vehicles with the lowest CO2 emissions in the organization's statistics, the largest emission reductions were Audi A3/S3, Octavia and Opel/Vauxhall Corsa. In the first half of this year, the average emission of CO2 was higher than that of 2009. Reduce the fiscal year by more than 10 g/km.
