Chengdu Institute of Mountain Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, inspects landslides and debris flow monitoring

[China Instrument Network Instrument Development] Precaution of rainfall-induced landslide debris flow is a worldwide problem and one of the research hotspots of international landslide debris flows. Recently, the Qiao Jianping team of the Chengdu Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences focused on the real-time monitoring and early warning and demonstration of landslide-induced debris flow, and carried out international cooperation and joint research, achieving remarkable results and social benefits.

According to reports, the research team systematically summarized and proposed the monitoring and early warning principle and classification of landslide debris flows, monitoring and early warning structures, space warning and time warning types and methods, and monitoring and early warning techniques. A relatively complete monitoring and early warning theory of rainfall-induced landslide debris flows was formed. Methodological system; Research and development of a multi-point, three-stage series, globally-coverable, surface inclinometer network system with independent intellectual property rights, high accuracy, low cost, easy installation, and reliable signals; landslides were established through field tests and laboratory simulations. Early warning model for the start of destruction of source bodies of debris flows and critical rainfall criteria and methods for calculating precipitation warning thresholds for debris flows in missing areas.
At present, the team has established 12 real-time monitoring and early-warning demonstration sites for landslides and debris flows in the earthquake-disturbed area in the Longmenshan District of Chengdu City, and carried out pilot demonstrations. At present, the monitoring and early warning system platforms and demonstration sites for the construction have been adopted by the Sichuan Chengdu Geological Environmental Monitoring Station and the Dujiangyan Land and Resources Bureau. The developed surface inclinometer has been used and promoted in Guodian and railway transportation systems.
