On February 2, 2012, the National Energy Administration commissioned the China Machinery Industry Federation to organize industry experts in Changsha to the Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute (abbreviated as Shanghai Nuclear Industry Institute) and Hunan Xiangdian Changsha Pump Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Xiangdian Long Pump). The jointly developed AP1000 waste heat pump prototype was identified. The leaders of the National Energy Administration, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the China Machinery Federation, and many domestic nuclear power owners and engineering companies attended the meeting. Yiqi Ye, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is the head of the expert group.
At the appraisal meeting, the leaders and experts listened to the development summary reports and related technical reports made by the relevant technical personnel of the Shanghai Nuclear Industry Research Institute and the long-pump of Xiangdian Power. They inspected the production test sites, and agreed that the prototype is the first to meet the ASME regulations and domestic Technical requirements for the AP1000 waste heat pump, the overall performance has reached the international advanced level. The waste heat pump prototype is also the first device in the localization of AP1000 pump and valve equipment that passed the expert appraisal.
Since the second half of 2009, the Shanghai Nuclear Industry Institute and Hunan Xiangchang Pump Co., Ltd. have cooperated with each other for more than 2 years of practical work and have accumulated profound results. They have completed the prototype design, processing and manufacturing and various tests. The prototype passed the appraisal successfully and marked the successful realization of localization of the AP1000 residual heat pump. It laid the foundation for the development of AP1000 follow-up projects and even CAP1400's major special pump and valve equipment.
