ADI Introduces Sensor Amplifiers for Industrial Applications

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) has introduced the AD8556, a sensor amplifier for a variety of automotive and industrial applications. This device is part of ADI's family of digitally programmable amplifiers. The AD8556 incorporates an integrated anti-electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter with a wide operating temperature range, low offset voltage and drift, and open and short circuit protection, making it suitable for use in anti-lock braking systems (ABS) Pressure sensors, passenger detection systems, fuel consumption sensors, transmission controls, and precision strain gages or pressure gauges.

In addition, the AD8556 is a zero temperature drift sensor amplifier with digitally programmable gain and output offset. The AD8556 is said to be the only sensor amplifier in the industry that integrates multiple features into a small 4 x 4mm LFCSP package.

Is the Analog Devices AD8556 at -40°C? The specified specifications can be achieved in the extended temperature range of +140 °C to meet the wide temperature range in automotive and industrial applications. The built-in EMI filter protection system avoids the effects of unwanted interfering signals that significantly limit system performance, reducing the number of external components and making the AD8556 highly accurate. In addition, the AD8556 provides integrated gain and offset adjustment, as well as open and short circuit protection for demanding precision and reliable industrial and automotive systems.

The AD8556 allows system designers to use software to automatically eliminate deviations between different sensors, eliminating the need for costly manual adjustments. Utilizing ADI's DIGITRIM package digital trimming technology enables the device to deliver high direct current (DC) accuracy at a low price. DIGITRIM technology is ADI's patented digital trimming process that enables precision CMOS amplifier products to deliver high accuracy at a low price. The serial data interface allows for digital programming over a wide range of 70 to 1,280 wide gains.

To ensure the lowest offset voltage drift and highest DC accuracy, the AD8556 provides an extremely low input offset voltage of 10 mA maximum, an input offset voltage drift of up to 65 NV/°C, and a minimum of 94dB DC and AC common-mode rejection (CMR). . The output clamp of the AD8556 can be set by an external reference voltage, allowing it to safely and accurately drive low-voltage analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) such as the Analog Devices AD7476.
